This research page is designed to solicit feedback from the network of Bauer collectors and dealers out there. We'll post questions and problems on this page, and publish the results in the Bauer Quarterly as soon as we get enough response. We invite you to submit questions you'd like to see posted. (We're excluding questions that are purely about pricing, and refer you to other references on our Bibliography page.) Photos are welcome. Also, if any of the info posted here is incorrect, please let us know.
The Fall '99 issue contains information and feedback on our previous Research Question on Bauer's Ant Traps. Now for the next one:
Pottery Repairs
Whether you're a dealer or collector, we'd like to get your feedback on Repairs. The Spring 2000 of the BQ will have a featured article on Bauer Repairs including feedback from this Research page. Please respond to any or all of these Repair questions: 1. To repair or not to repair -- that's the big question. Why or why not? 2. If you've had any Bauer pieces repaired, how has it gone? Have you been satisfied? Do you notice if certain kinds of repairs (cracks, chips, crazing) are more successful than others? Are certain glaze colors easier to repair? 3. Can you recommend a pottery repair person? Since we have subscribers from all over the country, we're trying to provide as many recommendations as possible. Please include the person's name, address/location, and a way to contact them. 4. Do you have any simple techniques for those who want to try a home repair job? E-mail us at:
